On the fifth ballot at the end of the second day of the 2013 Conclave, the Cardinal-Electors chose Jose Mario Cardinal Bergoglio as the 265th successor of St Peter and the latest Bishop of Rome. Around 7.20pm
Pope Francis appeared on the balcony of the Basilica of St Peter in the Vatican City to speak and give his first blessing
